 Non-Discrimination

"Democrats will fight to end discrimination based on race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, language, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, and disability in every corner of our country, because that’s the America we believe in."

"We will enact a comprehensive bipartisan employment non discrimination act."

"We affirm the timelessness of those values, the benefits of traditional military culture, and the incompatibility of homosexuality with military service. "
 Marriage Equality
"We call for a constitutional amendment that fully protects marriage as a union of a man and a woman, so that judges cannot make other arrangements equivalent to it."
> Federal Protections for Couples
"We support the full inclusion of all families, including same-sex couples, in the life of our nation, and support equal responsibility, benefits, and protections."  "We call for a constitutional amendment that fully protects marriage as a union of a man and a woman, so that judges cannot make other arrangements equivalent to it."

> Repeal Federal DOMA  "We oppose the Defense of Marriage Act and all attempts to use this issue to divide us."  "A Republican Congress enacted the Defense of Marriage Act, affirming the right of states not to recognize same sex 'marriages' licensed in other states.  Unbelievably, the Democratic Party has now pledged to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, which would subject every state to the redefinition of marriage by a judge without ever allowing the people to vote on the matter.  We also urge Congress to use its Article III, Section 2 power to prevent activist federal judges from imposing upon the rest of the nation the judicial activism in Massachusetts and California."
 Freedom of Gender

 Protecting Youth
"We renew our call for replacing 'family planning' programs for teens with increased funding for abstinence education, which teaches abstinence until marriage as the responsible and expected standard of behavior."
Same Sex Parenting  Rights
"We support the full inclusion of all families, including same-sex couples, in the life of our nation, and support equal responsibility, benefits, and protections."  "We call upon the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to reverse its policy of blacklisting religious groups which decline to arrange adoptions by same-sex couples."

The 2008 Democratic Party Platform was adopted during its convention in Denver in August 2008.
The 2008 Republican Party Platform was adopted during its convention in Minneapolis-Saint Paul in September 2008.

In response to Kat (comment below):

The Green Party 2004 Platform is outstanding in regard to LGBTQ rights. We will include its 2008 platform when it becomes available. It will be listed on a dedicated page with the 2008 Libertarian Party Platform.
