Steven M. Gluckstern is chairman of the board of the Michael D. Palm Center.
He is an entrepreneur, real estate developer, investor, educator and philanthropist, through the Gluckstern's family foundation.
In 1998, Mr. Gluckstern co-founded Capital Z Partners, which currently manages over $4 billion.
From 1988 to 1998 he worked for Zurich Financial Services in a range of positions including as Chairman of Scudder Mutual Funds, head of Group Investments, head of Reinsurance and as a member of its Group Executive Board. Mr. Gluckstern had previously served as General Manager of reinsurance operations of the Warren Buffett controlled Berkshire Hathaway Insurance Group and as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers.
Prior, Mr. Gluckstern spent seven years as a teacher and private and public school administrator.
An Arjay Miller Scholar and 1982 M.B.A. graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Mr. Gluckstern holds both Ed.D.(1974) and LH.D.(2003 honorary) degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and both B.A. (1972) and LH.D.(1997 honorary) degrees from Amherst College, where he currently serves as a member of its Board of Trustees.
