To Whom It May Concern:

I write in support of New Mexico State Senator Eric Griego, who is running for Congress in the First Congressional District of New Mexico. As a donor to the Senator's campaign and a long-time LGBTQ-activist, I whole-heartedly endorse Senator Griego and know that he is the ideal candidate for those who care about LGBTQ issues in New Mexico.

As a former-president of the New Mexico Lesbian & Gay Bar Association, former ACLU staff attorney, and private civil rights litigator, over the past ten years I have gotten to know Senator Griego in both professional and personal circles. I first became familiar with the Senator when he served on the Albuquerque City Council, and later as a State Senator. I can tell you that when issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals have arisen in the City Council or the New Mexico Legislature, Senator Griego was an advocate who we could always rely upon, and who was always there working hard to support our rights. I have personally witnessed Senator Griego work to defeat state DOMAs and push hard for equality legislation such as the Domestic Partnership Bill, HB 603, in the state legislature.

Senator Griego is a true progressive and that rare political leader who can be trusted to stick to his principles and do what it is right for his constituents, including those in the LGBTQ community. His work at the New Mexico Legislature, striving to protect our families and our relationships, is a matter of unwavering principle for him. He will not compromise our rights or his principles.

Senator Griego has broad support in the LGBTQ community in New Mexico. He is our candidate. He is the progressive candidate in this election. I wholeheartedly support him and look forward to his leadership in the next Congress as the next Representative from the First Congressional District in New Mexico.
