Letter from Bishop Gene Robinson in support of Annie Kuster for Congress

The Reverend Gene Robinson, openly gay Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire, writes about his support for Annie Kuster for Congress representing New Hampshire.

This letter is to commend to you ANNIE KUSTER, candidate for the Democratic nomination for the House of Representatives in District 2 of New Hampshire.

My husband, Mark Andrew, and I are hard at work on Annie's campaign, in part because she has always been a supporter and vocal advocate for the LGBTcommunity. She believes - and will work hard in Washington - for the overturning of DOMA. Her support of the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell is unwavering and well-known. And she brings her crystal-clear support of marriage

At a time when marriage equality is under a well-funded attack from the Right, we need Annie's voice in Congress. We cannot settle for members of Congress who are evasive or tentative in their support, or those who are pushing the anti-equality fight that has won ground in states like Maine and California. Here in New Hampshire, equality has a foothold - and we need Annie's clear and strong voice for our community in order to hold our ground.

I wholeheartedly endorse support for Annie's candidacy from eQualityGiving. We could not have a better candidate to back in this crucial campaign. Her well-funded opponent must be countered with an equally aggressive and forceful campaign. Annie will be a great Representative in the fight for equality for all our citizens, and especially its LGBT citizens.

The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson
Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire
