Guidelines for Writing Case Studies
Case Studies are written by multiple authors. Please follow this simple guidelines.
ABOUT THE CASE STUDIES
- Case studies focus on lessons learned, actions taken, or proposed strategies for LGBT equality.
- Case studies (unless agreed to differently) are visible only to Registered Members of eQualityGiving. These members are vetted manually to ensure that they are bona fide members of the movement.
- Case studies are written collaboratively by multiple authors (like Wikipedia).
CREATING A NEW CASE STUDY
- Just contact eQualityGiving. We will be happy to set up a case study for you. It only takes a few minutes.
- Ask different people to become authors (see above how to do it).
REQUIREMENTS TO BE AN AUTHOR
- You must be a Registered Member of eQualityGiving. Register here (please complete the Affiliations section in detail and then indicate the case study that you want to be an author of).
- Be approved by eQualityGiving to be an author of that case study.
HOW TO WRITE A CASE STUDY COLLABORATIVELY
- To start editing the page, click on Edit on the menu in the right hand side (after you have logged in).
- When you are done editing, check the box Minor Edit and then Save
if the changes are minimal. Otherwise Describe the change in the space
provided and click Save.
- We encourage the use of bullet points as much as possible.
- All authors can make any changes in the case study.
- We encourage to use bullet points that demonstrate agreement between the authors. Those bullet points can be edited by any author.
- If an author wants to express an opinion that it is not shared by everybody, the author can create a bullet point and add his/her name at the end in parenthesis. Other authors should not edit this text, but can move the bullet point to a proper section or can other bullet points with their own opinions.
- We encourage all authors to arrange the bullet points that represent unanimous agreement together (in a section so labeled) and the ones that there is disagreement on a separate section.
"ABOUT THE AUTHORS" SECTION
- One bullet per author using this format: Joe Doe is the executive director of XYZ.
- If you signed your name to any of the bullet points, please make sure that your name and affiliation is in the "About the Authors" section.
- If you did not sign your name to any of the bullets, it is optional to have your name in "About the Authors," but it is highly recommended.
COMMENTING ON A CASE STUDY
- Any Registered Member can add a comment below the case study.
- At the request of the authors, eQualityGiving can disallow comments on the case study (but this is not recommended).
