Out of the Past

Review from a Registered Member:
"Produced in partnership with GLSEN, won the Sundance Audience Awardfor best documentary and is the ideal way -- whether straight or gay --to get an overview of our struggle for equality.  Running through it isthe modern-day story of the effort to start a Gay Straight Alliance ata Salt Lake City high school.  (Rather than allow it, Utah at firstchose to shut down ALL high school clubs.)  But punctuating that storyare six historical vignettes, beginning with the Reverend MichaelWigglesworth in 1653, Harvard's first chaplain, whose story is told byHarvard's current (gay, black, Republican) chaplain... and runningthrough Nineteenth Century "Boston Marriages" and the struggles, naturally, of the Twentieth Century.  The first time I watched it, Iliked it.  By the fifth or the sixth time, it had become mythic."
